We're professional clock sellers and earn our living doing so. That's why we leave packing and shipping to the pros. It's for your own good, for the safety of the wonderful heirloom you just purchased from us, and adds an additional layer of insurance to the shipment.
Following are a series of photos taken at one of our San Diego packers shop. Many items that we've ship from Southern California were packed at Fragile Handle With Care. In other shipping locations, we also use professional packers, like The UPS Store, or commercial craters for larger items, each who follow our detailed instructions on packing your item. As a result, we've literally had only a handful of claims EVER, each having been fully reimbursed by the shipping company.
We've heard the horror stories time and time again. We've heard deeply disappointed people ask why another seller was so dumb in their (garage?) "professional" packing. Sure, it costs less, but the risks far outweigh the savings. The bottom line was best stated by one of our experienced clock-buying clients:
"I will rest easy knowing that my clock will be so well taken care of. Personally, I believe that no cost should be spared in packing and shipping old things across the country. It turns my stomach to open a box containing a clock that survived World Wars only to find that some idiot shipper dropped it and smashed it to pieces. Shipping is no place for bargains."
Another advantage of using professional packers: they are responsible when all else fails. That's not been a problem for us because our packers do it right to begin with. But it's a comforting thought to know there are two layers of insurance between us. If all else fails, the packer steps up to the plate financially. Sleep well!
